How Can Hydrocephalus In An Elderly Person be Treated?
I AM 73 YEARS OLD AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HYDROCEPHALIS 18 MONTHS ago. I HAD A SHUNT IMPLANTED AND THINGS WERE IMPROVING. I WAS CLEANING HOUSE AND WAS PUTTING A BOOK ON A HIGH SHELVE . I LET IT FALL AND HIT ME IN THE TOP OF THE HEAD. SO FAR MY SYMPTOMS HAVE NOT CHANGED MUCH, MY MENTAL CONDITION HAS CHANGED THE MOST. I CAN REMEMBER AS WELL OR STAY FOCUSED. MY NEUROLOGIZED WANTS TO SEE ME IN A YEAR. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

How Can Hydrocephalus In An Elderly Person be Treated?
Hello, Consult a neurosurgeon and get evaluated. In mild cases, drugs like diuretics and Acetazolamide can be tried. If symptoms persist surgical drainage might be required. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
